Amy Zachariasen

Amy Zachariasen is a 1990 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. She has a Bachelor's degree in Art, specializing in ceramics. Amy has exhibited her work in several galleries and received numerous merit and workshop awards from juried exhibits. Her pottery has been featured at several flower and garden shows in various parts of the U.S.

The Peninsula Artisans garner a great deal of attention because, true to classic guild tradition, they set high standards in granting membership. Potter, Amy Zachariasen explains,"It was a stringent review process. I had to provide slides of my work, an artist statement, copies of all of my promotional materials, a list of juried shows I have exhibited in and more." The Artisans visited Zachariasen Studios north of Carlsville to evaluate her gallery space and workshop areas and in 2003 she was recognized as a member of the Peninsula Artisans.

Each year the Peninsula Artisans host a working Door County studio tour in mid-September.The tour provides a unique opportunity to see woodworkers, a metalsmith, glass blowers, weavers, fiber artists and potters all at work in their studios.

Amy Zachariasen is also an avid gardener and landscaper. Many of her ceramic creations are designed to serve as outdoor sculptural fountains or architectural vessels. Her works are in collections throughout the U.S... and grace the gardens of her own Egg Harbor studio/gallery. See some photos in this feature article:

Door County Magazine, Spring 2003

"It's not Amy Zachariasen's fault that she thinks on a larger scale than most artists. Perhaps it's because her inspiration is drawn directly from the earth."
